Floral Wedding Invitations with a Modern Spin | Jennifer & Alexander
From Sketch to Invitation
If you have followed me for very long at all, you probably know that I am pretty active on Instagram. I love sharing behind the scenes peeks, the chaos that is my life with a toddler, as well as finished projects. I also share the occasional "personal project" or sketch.
These floral wedding invitations were actually born out of a sketch that I drew and displayed while on vacation with my family. When Jennifer saw it, she knew that was what she wanted to use for her wedding invitations, and I was so thrilled to be able to use something that I already loved! A few tweaks, and it was perfect.
A Modern Spin
While Jennifer has a love for the traditional, her now hubby, Alex, loves a clean and modern look. Thankfully, the florals that Jennifer fell in love with ended up being the perfect transition between the two styles. We used the sketchy, effortless and elegant nature of the line drawings and paired that with a very crisp and clean layout for the invitations themselves.
This suite is a lot different than what I typically create, but that's one thing that I like about it! It still has a heavy emphasis on the artwork, but it is being displayed in a fresh new way.
A Monochromatic Palette
The color palette was another way that we could push the more modern feel for this suite. By keeping the entire suite monochromatic (varying shades of the same color), there is new life added to the fine art style calligraphy and illustration style. Her outer envelopes were a bold punch of burgundy, while the crisp white inner envelopes helped to show off the beautiful, all over pattern on their envelope liners.
