Watercolor Landscape Wedding Invitations | Secret Garden Collection
If you haven’t seen my review of the wax seals included in The Secret Garden, my exclusive collection with Artisaire, then you might want to either start at that blog post or you can watch the brief overview here.
In this blog post, I’m excited to dive into the Swan Lake wedding invitation suite.
This full wedding invitation suite (including “day of” and “thank you” cards) has been such a fun creative challenge for me. I’ve been dreaming of a watercolor landscape with a vellum topper containing all of the information. While I wasn’t able to create using vellum for the invitation itself, I was able to mimic the effect with different layers of the invitation itself—which ends up being more cost effective, so it’s a win-win!
All in all, I hope that you’ll find that this wedding invitation suite is a modern take on the romance found in old landscape paintings and the elegance found in old world beauty.
Let’s look at the Climbing Roses invitation collection as a whole…
This suite has two major elements at play. First, and most obvious, is the custom watercolor landscape created for this wedding invitation suite. The landscape is repeated several times throughout the suite and really grounds the aesthetic overall.
The second element was the custom toile pattern created for this suite. You can find it on the envelopes and elements of it within the save the date, reply and thank you card designs. The illustrations in the toile contain several garden vignettes that include a lake with two swans, trees, a fountain with florals surrounding it, potted floral arrangements, small animals and graceful, sweeping cat tails. This full toile pattern is also featured on the back of several of the cards.
One thing that I love about this suite is how versatile it is! The monogram on the programs and detail cards is the perfect size to cover with a wax seal. This creates the perfect opportunity to customize your suite to reflect your personal style and values.
The elegance of the watercolor landscape really takes this wedding invitation suite to the next level. I loved repeating it throughout the suite but adding in elements of the toile and modern text layouts to keep it modern. I love how this suite highlights nature and the elegance of an outdoor space. Perfect for a forest wedding or an outdoor, lakeside reception.
The modern style save the date is a great way to balance out the elegance of the full watercolor landscape. This helps to being a modern and more masculine flair to the suite as a whole, and a chance to highlight your custom monogram!
As you’ve probably already noticed, this suite was designed to pair perfectly with the Swan wax seals—both the single swan and the swan couple with a darling MONOGRAM! I am obsessed with that one. But the toile adds some versatility to the suite and beautifully ties in the fountain wax seal (and personalized version) in a beautiful way, which would be perfect for an Estate wedding that features more stonework in the gardens and landscapes. Of course I love the gold wax, but also enjoyed using the Thyme and Sequoia wax colors as well for a very nature-inspired color palette.
