The Easiest Wax Seals Ever
Wax Seal Stamps are the traditional method of using wax seals, and if you have already purchased a stamp that you love, you can find my tutorial for easy and fast application here.
However, the method that I am going to share with you today does not require a stamp at all! Rather, you can order prestamped designs in the color, edge and aesthetic of your choice and skip all of the hot wax all together. Sounds great, right?
Self adhesive seals (shown above in this design with the "organic edge") are a quick and easy way to get the look of a seal without the work behind the scenes. You simply peal off the backing and place it onto your desired surface like a sticker! I recommend this method to all of my brides who decide to assemble their wedding invitations on their own.

Well, there are some details to consider when selecting which seal is for you. To start, pick a design from among those created by professional stationers and artist in the signature collection, or design your own. After your choice has been made, you will need to select the style of edge that you will use:
Choose an Edge Style:
The edge style that you select will effect your overall aesthetic. The Modern edge is very clean, satisfying in it’s perfection, though (obviously) features no variety. This style would be perfect for a minimal, symmetrical and clean invitation design.
The Organic edge features an irregular edge that varies from stamp to stamp and mimics most naturally the look of hand stamped seals. In general, this is what I recommend for my brides as it is the most universally complimentary.
The Artisan edge is the “messiest” of all—featuring a wider span of wax and irregularity between the stamps. While I personally adore the more historic look, it is definitely an acquired taste! I love using the artisan edge for fine art inspired pieces and it pairs especially well with handmade paper.
Choose Adhesive Type:
The project that you have at hand for your wax seals will effect the style of adhesive that you will use for your wax seals. There are two major types: Professional grade and Resealable grade.
Professional grade is designed to be used on wedding invitations and CAN be used outside of envelopes in the mail. The adhesive is very strong and is difficult to remove once placed (just like a traditional stamp), though hand-canceling/sorting is still recommended when mailing invitations with the professional grade adhesive. If you wish the design to stick and stay: go with the Professional grade adhesive!
Resealable grade is perfect for scrap booking, or for items that you wish to allow your guests to open. For example, if you have a vellum sleeve wrapped around your invitations, I would recommend using the resealable grade so that your guests can remove the seal and open the wrap without destroying it. Other, more delicate surfaces such as acrylic or glass should also use the Resealable adhesive for their wax seals.
