Story Behind the Art:

Easter is the most important day of our family’s year and I’m alway looking for a beautiful way to reflect the deep meaning behind our celebration as well as showcase the joy that we have as a result of these few dark days in history.
Indescribable joy and rest.
Rest from fighting and striving to be “good enough”. Rest from grief. Rest from doubts and fear. I wanted this painting to reflect that rest and hope. The open mouth of death and the tomb is still there, but it’s nothing compared to the beauty that came as a result of it.

Why It Matters:

Before Jesus, we were separated from God by our sins. Every thing that we think, say or do that is evil is sin—and if you’re like me, you’re dripping in sin. From “little white lies” to nasty thoughts or rude comments, stealing, cheating and murder it’s all sin. And because I’ve sinned, I deserve death. It doesn’t matter if I’m “better” than someone else, I’ve crossed the line and I should die.

BUT GOD, in His mercy, sent a way out. God sent His son, Jesus, who lived a perfect, sinless life and then took my place. He paid the penalty that I owed—death—and gave His life for mine before I even knew His name. He was murdered on a cross in my place. And all I have to do is accept His sacrifice in my place and I can have His reward: a relationship with God and eternal life in Heaven.

Even more beautiful is the fact that Jesus didn’t stay dead! Three days after He gave up His life for mine (and yours!), He rose again from the dead and walked out of that grave! He defeated Satan at his own game—sin and death could not hold him.
