Introducing: The Composition Guide

Ever start on a piece of artwork and suddenly freeze, at a loss of how to move forward or what to do to improve your composition?

Something is off, but you have no idea what it is or how to fix it.

You’re frustrated, and ready to give up.
If only you had a visual arts composition guide, or knew of a few tricks that could help you get over this “hump” and complete the composition that you know could be amazing. The potential is there, but you need help.

I’ve got just the thing:

But what IS composition?

Literally, composition means “putting together”. But, for further clarification, this is my definition:

Visual arts composition is the strategic arrangement of the elements and principles of design to create a visually aesthetic piece and/or to clearly communicate a message to your viewers.

Composition is one of the hardest aspects of the visual arts to master and can quickly grow confusing. Which is why I worked diligently with my husband (and fellow art teacher) for over 6 months to pull together the content for this course and present it to you. Composition is challenging, but it doesn’t have to be out of reach for you!

What’s included in The Composition Guide?

In the full course we will briefly review the elements and principles of design (and if you need a more in-depth study of these important design tools, there is also a mini course for that—coming SOON!)

Then we will quickly dive into the different “rules” of composition: ways to create balance and movement within your artwork, and foolproof techniques for arranging your subjects on the page. I’ll even share some of my favorite tips and “rules of thumb” for creating beautiful compositions.

And then for my favorite part!

After we establish a firm foundation, I’ll take you behind the scenes as I problem solve and work through two different designs—showing you the lessons of the course in action! One design will be more complicated and feature a lot of movement. The second design will showcase how I use my own technique to create aesthetically pleasing compositions.

I am SO SO excited to finally be able to provide this valuable course for you! Like all of my educational resources, my goal is to break down advanced, fine art techniques into easy to understand bites that you can implement into your own artwork immediately.

Not sure this is for you?
