Marblehead Lighthouse, Lake Erie Wedding Invitations
I love how everything came together for this invitation. The bride specifically requested a sophisticated "beach" theme. And if I am completely honest, I was not thrilled when I heard this. If you look around at my wedding invitation aesthetic, you can tell that I don't rely too heavily on "themes"—I tend to go for classic, elegant but with a bit of fun thrown in. Thankfully, Olivia didn't want seashells everywhere, but the venue—Marblehead Lighthouse, just off of Lake Erie—begged for a tie in with the stationery.
The lighthouse was more than just a unique wedding venue for this couple. It was where Jordan proposed to his future bride. It was a special part of their story and I was willing to try to work with their theme in order to celebrate their journey together.
How can I say "no" after hearing this cute story? The lighthouse had to be included!
The crest encircling the invitation wording was the perfect way to add a unique element to the invitation as well as bring some sophistication to the whole suite. Keeping it a line drawing instead of working with a lot of color also helped to avoid a more casual feel. The shield of the crest itself is illustrated as a thick rope and the water is delicately added to the corners. Add some flowers and you have the main body of this invitation!
It was love at first sketch.
The finishing touch? Adding the gold foil elements to the design. It was a simple way to add that extra special something to really make this suite shine!
